SUPPORTED GROUP LIVING

We provide three residences for group living for “core members” (adults with intellectual disabilities) and “assistants” (those who support them) to live life together in community. For those who work here, this is more than a job. In each of our three homes, those with and without intellectual disabilities live together. We don’t just “care for” people; rather, we share life, chores, meals, outings, challenges and celebrations together. This is what makes L'Arche unique. We value the life-changing relationships that unfold within an environment that is inclusive, secure, and with dignity for all. Each of the three L’Arche homes is named after the street where they are located:

ARTHUR STREET HOUSE is in Arnprior and is our newest and largest home which we built in 2013. This home has 6 core members, 3 live-in assistants, and 3 live-out assistants.

McLACHLIN STREET HOUSE is our smallest home in Arnprior. This home has 5 core members, 2 live-in assistants, and 3 live-out assistants.

USBORNE STREET HOUSE is located in McNab/Braeside on a large property, and is home to 5 core members, 3 live-in assistants, and 3 live-out assistants.

SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING (SIL)

Our Supported Independent Living Program (SIL) supports 10 core members who live in their own residences throughout the community (a few of whom live in long-term care). Our SIL assistants who support our members go above and beyond to ensure quality support.

RAINBOW HOUSE is a separate dwelling in the backyard of McLachlin House used as a transition home for those entering into our SIL program.
