Our River Road Program Space is a storefront space where we host various programming opportunities which we launched in October 2023. The arts, recreational, and life skills programs help provide meaningful days for our core members. We currently offer a wide variety of programs three days a week and will be expanding our offerings in the near future.

ARTS PROGRAMS

We offer creative and performance arts programming that focusses on developing the talents and skills of artists with intellectual disabilities: visual arts, culinary arts, theatre arts, music, photography, crafting, etc.

RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS

We provide a variety of inclusive recreation, leisure, and wellness opportunities which are safe, affordable, appropriate, activity-based, flexible, and seasonal: walking club, yoga, games, bowling, spa and wellness, etc.

LIFE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

We have an innovative and well rounded approach to exploring how to live more independently. Through experiential learning participants increase their self-confidence and their capacity to discover their own places of belonging: job coaching, meal prep, reading, gardening, etc.

Our community gets together every Wednesday for various gatherings on a monthly rotation (see below). Following the programmed section of the gathering we share in a community-wide potluck lunch together.

MEETING OF THE BODY

Meeting of the Body is where we celebrate birthdays and L’Arche anniversaries, we share our news, comings and goings, and we inform one another of what’s happening in our lives, in our community, and around the world.

COMMUNITY PRAYER

At Community Prayer we join together to sing, to pray, and to explore our spirituality together. Depending on the season or theme, these gatherings are expressive of a particular mood or vibe (celebratory, reflective, etc.)

MUSIC CLUB

We jam to music that inspires us: singing, playing, dancing, expressing; and we appreciate the talents of others in our community. There are instruments for people to try, or bring what you already play. Come and sing your heart out!

GAMES & SEASONAL CELEBRATIONS

Once or twice a month we love to play and celebrate! Sometimes we do things like Bingo, Trivia, The Price is Right, etc. or we celebrate a particular special occasion like Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, St. Patrick’s Day, etc.

TUCK SHOP SOCIAL HOUR

This happens at our River Road space and is meant to be a time of socializing, celebration, and refreshment. We sell “tuck shop” items and all profits go to support a L’Arche Community in Honduras.

FRIDAY GET-AWAYS

We hit the road once a month for a community field trip. We go to places like: museums, beaches, art galleries, movie theatres, maple syrup camps, etc.
